Ageing is a natural part of life which we all sooner or later have to embrace. But why choose sooner rather than later in this particular case? I think many of you are as sure of what to answer to that question as I am! I heard a while ago, about the four T’s to reverse the process of skin ageing, and I felt that I wanted to look into to it a bit deeper to get a better understanding of the meaning it.

Here is your ultimate guide to reverse the process ageing and turn it around before it is too late:

THE FOUR T’S = TONE – TEXTURE – TIGHTNESS – TOPICALS

TONE

Uneven skin tone is very common and may be caused by sun damage, post-inflammatory or hormonal melasma. These general causes can result in some sort of trauma on the skin. Luckily there are many ways to treat these issues. Sun damage and age spots are clinically treated with IPL, laser and chemical peels. Photo Dynamic Therapy is a highly recommended and popular treatment for these kind of uneven skin tones. When treating uneven skin tone, topic ingredients such as retinol, hydroquinone, arbutin, kojic acid and L-ascorbic acid are usually the best starting point which may prevent tyrosinase and minimise melanin production.

TEXTURE

As we age the surface of our sin changes. Fine lines develop especially around the eyes, neck and mouth and our pores become enlarged. The skin may also in some cases feel dry and flakey. This is the result of the skin loses its function to act as barrier. Textural changes happens mostly because of the loss of collagen, elastin and natural moisturising factors such as ceramide and hyaluronic acid. There are umber of clinical treatments that can successfully improve the skin texture and restore your youth. A very popular method is fractional laser which is a treatment that target each fraction of the skin at the time. Skin needling is another very effective method for treating the texture changes in your skin. This method will basically trick your skin into massive repair mode and collagen stimulation as numerous micro-injuries are created with needles. A series of at least 6 treatments are recommended for best results.

TIGHTNESS

Loss of volume due to fat and bone loss is a common change that we all have to face when ageing, The ligaments suspending the facial muscles lose elasticity and skin can appear slack. On a more positive note, volume can effectively be restored with hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers and fat transfer. There are of course non surgical treatments which does not include any needles at all, such radio frequency or infrared skin tightening methods with devices that can bulk heat to the lower dermis to stimulate collagen rebuild.

TOPICALS

Our skins biggest enemy and the most damaging element of them all is the the UV light. Sun screen daily is simply a must. This is your best chance to assure your that skin being kept from premature ageing. It is suggested not only to use facial creams with high sun screen protection but also make up with at least 30 spf. There are many serums that can work for your benefit to prevent your skin from looking dry, dull and older than it really is. Vitamins like E, B, A, and C is only a few to mention. But it is extremely important that we feed our skin with the right ingredients not only to prevent it form early ageing but for a healthier overall appearance.
